Wayne Farrow Hopper

Wayne Farrow Hopper, born on June 12, 1937, in Alamo, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at the Alamo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Alamo, Tennessee. He was a distinguished member of the community, known for his devotion to public service and the love he held for his family and his passions.

Wayne dedicated many years of his career to the Crockett County Highway Department, where he earned the respect of colleagues and citizens alike. In addition to his work in highway services, he also served as a bus driver for the Crockett County School System, playing an essential role in the daily lives of countless students. His commitment to these roles was marked by his diligent work ethic and the joy he found in helping others.

Proudly serving as a Sergeant with the Tennessee National Guard, Wayne exemplified dedication and service, values he carried throughout his life. He retired from the Tennessee National Guard Co. A - 230th Sig Bn of Alamo, TN  after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a High School Graduate and always sought to share his knowledge and experiences with those around him.

Wayne's personality shone brightly in his love for collecting “things that made him happy,” particularly his cherished collection of cars. He was always a busy bee, constantly engrossed in projects or adventures that brought him pleasure. Those who knew him will fondly remember his enthusiasm for attending Gospel Singings alongside his beloved wife, Ms. Rebecca, as they visited numerous churches in their community. Wayne found much joy in the local church gatherings, as they enriched his life and fostered connections.

He is survived by his son, James Hopper of Ripley, Tennessee; his daughter, Ann Harden, and her husband, Anthony, of Jackson, Tennessee; two grandsons, Seth Harden and his wife, Abbigail, and Justin Harden and his wife, Ava; and his four great-grandchildren, Emma, Henry, Noah, and Owen. 

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Don Hopper and Thelma Wheeler Hopper; his first wife of over 25 years, Mary Hilliard Hopper; his second wife of over 30 years, Rebecca Pulley Hopper; his brother, Montague Hopper; and his two sisters, Evelyn Tinker and Mildred Yearwood. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In honor of Wayne's life and contributions, a visitation will be held at Bells Funeral Home in Bells, Tennessee, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held following his visitation at the Oakview Memorial Park of Alamo, TN with Bro. Lyndon Frost officiating.  Wayne Farrow Hopper will be remembered for his loving spirit, charitable heart, and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him.
