Trudy celebrated her 70th birthday by gaining her angel wings, leaving this world peacefully at 6:59 AM. on January 29, 2026. She fought a brave and graceful battle with liver cancer, facing it with wisdom, faith, and even humor until her body grew tired. Comforted by her belief that death is nothing to fear, she trusted fully in God and was ready to reunite with her mother and rest in the loving arms of Jesus. Though her passing leaves an ache that words cannot ease, her family finds comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and is watching over them with love. Her strength, generosity, and joyful spirit will be remembered always. A private service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. To know her was to love her. She embodied wisdom, grace, strength, humor, and a deep love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was breezy, happy-go-lucky, and endlessly charming. Her love and her smile were truly unmatched.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Smith of Brownsville, TN; two daughters, Renee Kennedy Radcliff (Eric) of Brownsville, TN and Jessica Kennedy Lenhart (Robert) of Cordova, TN; four stepchildren, Harold Smith, Sheremy Smith, Jayme Smith, and Mary Smith; two brothers, Bill Armstrong (Genetta) and Johnny Armstrong; two sisters, Sallie Jo Farris (Robin), Misti Armstrong (Brian), and three beloved grandchildren, Isabelle (Izzy) Kennedy, Jackson Lenhart, and Annalise Lenhart. She also leaves nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie Dean Moore Long and Jessie Truitt Armstrong; two brothers, Jessie Truitt Armstrong, Jr. and Mark Armstrong; three sisters, Bonnie Louise Richardson, Tina Marino, and Nancy Ann Warner.
The Lord’s Prayer
“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Gods’ Promise
“God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, or sun without rain. But God did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way. And for all who believe in His kingdom above, He answers their faith with everlasting love.
John 16:22
“Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”
“The love you gave in life keeps people alive beyond their time, anyone who has given love will live on in one another’s heart.” Cicero
