Terry Wayne Parks

August 25, 1940 — July 6, 2025

Brownsville

Terry Parks, age 84, departed this world peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025. A man of solid Christian faith, he was a longtime member of Trinity Community Church of Nutbush, TN where he worked diligently to get it rebuilt after the devastating fire of 2015. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the Trinity Community Church with Bro. Larry Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the Trinity Community Chruch.

He worked as a heavy equipment owner/operator as well as an employee at Pease in wood-working manufacturing. Also, he worked at Haywood County Farm as a manager for 16 years. He loved quail hunting and fishing. He supplied the local penal centers and jails with sustenance at a time when one’s fellow man saw to it that the incarcerated had decent and nutritious meals. He was always a great friend to their neighbors supplying fresh grown vegetables, etc. His sausage making skills were widely known in the county. Haywood County and Nutbush will solely miss this godly man of conviction and character that Terry Parks represented. A true giver to the community he loved.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Joan Turner Parks. Their three daughters: Dana (Claude)Jones, of Brownsville, TN; Lisa Littlejohn of Brownsville, TN; Carol (Jerry) Meadows of Ripley, TN. Their son David Parks of Nashville, TN. His grandchildren: Austin (Hailee) Jones, Cassie Jones, and Britney Dedmon. Great Grandchildren: Braden Jones, Hudson Jones, and Palmer Mae Dedmon. Lastly, three sisters remain: Barbara (Jerry) Marbury of Denmark, TN, Joan Brummett of Brownsville, TN, and Mary Ann (Mike) Prine of College Station, TX.

Preceded in death by his father and mother: Joe Thomas and Goldie Mae (Hibbitt)Parks. Sisters: Josephine Hammond, Nell Cassidy, and Jeannie Williams. Brothers: Stacy, Larry, and Jim Parks. Grandson: Benjamin (Ben)Thomas Hodge.
