It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan A. Little, born Susan Brooks on January 1, 1955, in Louisville, MS. Susan left this world peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Savannah, TN, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

For several years, Susan dedicated herself to her role as the first bus driver for Montgomery County School System, where her warm smile and friendly nature made her a favorite among the students and teachers. Her spirit was infectious, and her ability to connect with people created lasting bonds that extended far beyond her work. Later in her career, she was the bookkeeper for her family sawmill.

One of Susan’s greatest joys was playing cards with her family. Known affectionately as "The Gambler," she had a passion for the thrill of the game, often found enjoying the excitement of casinos and their one-armed bandits. These moments spent around the card table mirrored her zest for life—full of laughter, competition, and camaraderie.

Susan’s family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her loving fiancé and companion of over 20 years, Ricky D. Hayes, whose presence filled her life with joy and companionship. Her daughter, Stacy Lynn Tucker, and her step-son, Cody Hayes, carry forward her loving spirit. Sister Janie Ray (Stacy) maintains the close familial bond that defined Susan's life, and will hold on to the precious memories they created together.

While Susan’s life was rich with love, it was also marked by loss. She mourns the absence of her father, Leonard Leroy Brooks, and her mother, Lucille Alberta Foley Brooks. Her son, Stephen Shannon, and an infant son, Scotty Ray, were lost too soon, leaving a profound impact on her heart. Susan also grieved the loss of her brother, Ricky Dewayne Smith, whose absence left an empty space in her life that could never be filled.

Her family is further enriched by the joy of eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren—each one lighting up her life in their own unique way. With one more great-grandchild on the way, Susan's legacy will continue through her family, perpetuating the love she so generously gave during her time with them.

Additionally, Susan shared an unbreakable bond with her Aunt Ann McPeak, who was not only family but also her best friend. Together, their connection reminded everyone around them of the power of friendship and support.

As we remember Susan, we celebrate her vibrant spirit and the love she shared so freely. She taught us the importance of family, laughter, and the simple joys in life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, a gentle reminder of the beauty of connection and the strength of love. Susan A. Little will be dearly missed but will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
