Raymond Terry Scallions, age 84, of Brownsville, TN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 24, 2026. A celebration of Terry's life will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home, 1280 S. Dupree Ave., Brownsville, TN with Bro. Bob Connerly and Dr. Ben Cowell officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Church Cemetery in Gates, TN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.

A man of unwavering faith, Terry lived a life rooted in the values of hard work, devotion to family, and a deep and abiding love for God. A farmer by trade and by heart, he understood the beauty of God's creation and the rewards of an honest day's work. Whether tending land, working on a piece of machinery, or finding a way to fix something others might have given up on, Terry was happiest when working with his hands.

He was a devoted student of the Bible, finding wisdom, comfort, and purpose in God's Word. His faith was not simply something he professed; it was the foundation upon which he built his life. In his final days, he expressed the peace and assurance of a man who knew where he was going, saying, "I am ready to see Jesus." Those precious words will forever bring comfort to the family he leaves behind.

But above all his many interests and accomplishments, Terry's greatest earthly treasure was his family.

His wife was the sun around which his world revolved. His children were his moon, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the stars that filled his life with light.

He loved his wife, Janice, with a devotion that was evident in the life they built together. His children knew the steadfast love of a father whose greatest joy was his family. And to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he leaves a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will shine for generations to come.

Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Janice Scallions, his children, Michael Scallions (spouse Dianna Scallions), LeAnne Scallions, Angela Taylor (spouse Ken Taylor), his grandchildren, Blake Taylor (spouse Jayme Taylor), Ashton Rinks (spouse Hunter Rinks), Kendall Taylor; and his great-grandchildren, Maverick Taylor, Searcy Rinks and Collyns Taylor.

He is survived by sisters Molly Labanics and Pamela Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Raymond and Myrtle Scallions, brothers James Scallions and Leonard Scallions and sisters Ruby Stanfield, Marie Daniels, Linda Watkins.

Though his earthly work is finished, the seeds of faith and love he planted throughout his life will continue to grow in the hearts of those who knew him.

And while his family will miss him beyond measure, they find comfort in knowing that the farmer who spent his life tending God's earth has now gone home to walk in his Father's garden. The family requests that memorials be made to Concord Church Cemetery, c/o Sandra Dyson, 2095 Garrett Ball Rd., Gates, TN 38037. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
