Patricia Smith Baggett, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Sugar Creek Senior Living Community in Brownsville, TN. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the Trinity Cemetery in the Nutbush Community with Bro. Lonnie Robinson officiating. Burial will follow.

Patricia was born on March 8, 1936, to James Edward and Harriet Dezern Smith in Brownsville, TN. Patricia had a passion for children, teaching first grade at the Ripley Primary School for forty years and taught Sunday School at Antioch Baptist Church, where she also played the organ for sixty years. She was a member of the Retired Teacher Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma. Patricia had many talents, such as canning, scrapbooking, and baking. She was especially known for her caramel cakes, fried peach pies and pecan pies. She enjoyed basketball and football as well as fishing and boating on the TN River. Patricia was a hard worker and seemed to never be idle, you could find her driving a bean truck, mowing the grass and then cooking supper for the family.

Patricia is survived by her son: Tony Baggett (Lisa) of Brownsville, TN; sister: Dr. Deborah Smith; two grandchildren: Anthony Baggett (Lacey) and Laura Leigh Baggett; one great grandchild: George Baggett; two nieces: Susan Baggett, Hannah Kirby (Vaughan); and one nephew: Hassell Smith (Allison). She was preceded in death by her husband: Larry Lee Baggett; parents: James Edward and Harriet Dezern Smith; brother: Jimmy Smith, Jr. (Diane); Clarence Baggett, Jr. (Delois); and niece Mary Jane Baggett.

Pallbearers for the service will be Gary Elder, Danny Watson, Anthony Baggett, Jerry Baynes, Jamie Baynes, Lee Baynes, Hassell Smith and Vaughan Kirby.

Honorary pallbearers are George Baggett, Christine Kinnon, Marilyn Taylor, Gabriella Woody, Deborah Watkins and Valerie Lamkin.

Patricia was deeply loved and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The family requests memorials be made to Antioch Baptist Church, c/o Sherri Yanakopulos, 341 Baynes Rd., Brownsville, TN 38012 or Trinity Cemetery, c/o Janet Willis, 437 Preston Dr., Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
