Mildred West

Mildred West, born on May 28, 1938, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at the age of 88. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens. Burial will immediately follow.

Mildred dedicated much of her working life to Jockey in Alamo, TN. Beyond her professional life, Mildred found joy in simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching television, unwinding with her favorite shows after a busy day. Playing games on her phone brought her delight. Perhaps most of all, Mildred relished her visits to the casino, where she embraced the excitement of the moment.

She is survived by her son, Matthew West; her brothers, Truman Campbell (Lucy) and Roy Campbell (Brenda), both of Brownsville, TN; her sisters Verble Clark of Memphis, TN and Annie Glenn of Brownsville, TN. Mildred is also survived by several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her greatly. Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Daniel West; her parents, Tollie and Annie Climer Campbell; and several brothers and sisters who went before her,

Mildred will be dearly missed and remembered with affection by all whose lives she touched.  The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.  All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
