Mattie Renfroe

Mattie Jewel Piner Renfroe, age 80, a resident of Brownsville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the Jackson-Madison County Hospital in Jackson, TN.  The family has honored her wishes for cremation. No services are scheduled at the present time.

Mrs. Renfroe was born on August 16, 1942, in Jackson, MS to Herman Harvey and Mattie Ruth Pinner, both who preceded her in death. She worked in administration as a clerk. She loved Jesus, and she loved reading and studying the Bible.  She enjoyed gardening and flowers, especially red roses. One of her favorite snacks was kettle chips.  She found great pleasure in being around her family. 

She is survived by her husband, Fred Renfroe; one son, Fred Howard Refroe, Jr.; two daughters, Teresa Gail Davis and Selina Dianne Henderson; one brother; Herman Harvey Piner; one nephew, Eric Piner and several other nieces and nephews. She also leaves a legacy of love for her five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and her special dog, Baby. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Wayne Renfroe; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Renfroe; and one brother, Charles Lamar Piner.

All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
