Mary Helen Stokely, a beloved member of the Brownsville community, passed away on November 2, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on October 20, 1943, in Madison County, she lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a commitment to her family. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Brownsville Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Brownsville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the service hour of 11:00 AM.

Mary Helen worked as an accountant at the Cozart Accounting Firm, where her talents and meticulous nature were greatly valued. She was not only distinguished in her professional life but also in her personal life. A proud graduate of Union University, Mary Helen earned her bachelor's degree with honors, marking her educational journey as one of her many significant accomplishments. Outside of her professional achievements, she took immense joy in playing the piano and leading the music at Providence Methodist Church and later at Woodland Baptist Church. In addition to her family life, she was an excellent cook, often bringing everyone together around her table, creating both delicious meals and cherished memories. Mary Helen's warmth and kindness will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Family was the cornerstone of her existence. Mary Helen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bobby Stokely, and their three children: Bobby Glenn Stokely, Jr., Denise Stokely Pearson (John), and Marcia Stokely Neal (Jeffrey). Her joyful spirit extended to her five grandchildren—Andrew Wilder Pearson, Rebecca Pearson Briley (Trebor), Karsen Gail Neal, George Lee Stokely, and Mamie Margaret Stokely—who were sources of great pride and joy in her life. Mary Helen also leaves her brother, James Thomas Campbell (Tammy), to cherish her memory. Mary Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Flossie Amos and Josephine Jones Campbell, her brother Jerald Mac Campbell, Sr., and her sisters Lillie Pearl Hayes and Betty Jordan. Their memories were cherished by Mary Helen, who carried her love for them throughout her life.

Pallbearers for the service will be Tim Stokely, Bob Hooper, Joe Stokely, Kevin Campbell, J.T. Campbell, and Jerald Campbell.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
