Mary Lou Hill

April 19, 1938 — September 25, 2020

Mary Lou Harris Hill passed away peacefully on September 25, 2020, at the side of her husband Philip Hill. A double Graveside Service for Philip and Mary Hill will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 10:30 AM, at Brownsville Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, TN. Mary Lou was born April 19, 1938 in Lexington, Tennessee to Walter OC and Ida Faye Overman Harris. She was a caretaker. She took care of all who were blessed to know her no matter the reason—births, deaths and celebrations of any size—she was ready at hand with a brisket or a punch bowl and if you were really loved, an enormous bowl of potato salad. She was a momma bear at heart. There was never any doubt that she would not ferociously defend her husband or three children. She advocated for our daddy like a health care professional through multiple heart attacks, a heart transplant, and many brushes with cancer over their long marriage. Momma worked side-by-side with our father in the operation of his dream of owning his own business handling the financial details until their active retirement in 2015. Mary Lou is survived by her brother Don Harris (Louise) of Lexington, TN; daughter Gigi Prince (John) of Hopkinsville, KY; son David Hill (Susan) of Brownsville, TN; daughter Kathlyn Henderson (Ron) of Murfreesboro, TN along with 9 grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vanderbilt University Heart Transplant Center at https://www.vanderbilthealth.org/ways-give All Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
