Marilyn Thomas Sullivan, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the Maplewood Healthcare Center in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on July 24, 1937, in Mercer, Tennessee, Marilyn’s life spanned nearly nine decades filled with love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her family.
Marilyn was a cherished presence whose warmth touched all who knew her. She witnessed and embraced many changes throughout her life but remained a steadfast pillar of strength and kindness. Her journey was marked by deep family bonds and a generous spirit that leaves an indelible mark on those privileged to be part of her life.
She is survived by her dear grandchildren: Courtney Blair Brush (Brent), Charles Tyler Sullivan, Makayla Brook Sullivan, and Michael Shane Sullivan (Starlett), who carry forward her legacy with pride. Also continuing her family line is her great-grandchild, Tate Thomas Brush, who brought immeasurable joy to Marilyn’s later years.
Marilyn was preceded in death by loved ones who shaped her story and whom she held close in her heart. She was the daughter of Leslie Everett Thomas and Beulah Kate Joyner Thomas, and sister to Harvey Franklin Thomas. She also mourned her three sisters—Helen Jane Tapler, Martha Nell Parker, and Vera Mae Boeskool—her loving husband of over 50 years, Mr. Charles Loyd Sullivan and her beloved son, Charles Everett "Chuck" Sullivan. Each of these bonds profoundly influenced the woman Marilyn became, and their memories are treasured by her family.
