L.J. Coulston

L.J. Coulston, age 94, a long-time resident of Brownsville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Bells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bells, TN. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens with burial to follow. Dr. John Hayes will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 12 Noon  - 1:45 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. 

L.J. was born on December 25, 1929, in Tipton County to William Luther Coulston and Zora Mae Webb Coulston. He was the owner and operator of LJ Coulston Construction and worked in the business many years until his retirement.  There were many things in life that he enjoyed including, NASCAR racing, walking horses, tractor pulls, western movies, farming, trading and bargaining. He was part of a large family and was blessed to love and invest in the lives of them all. 

He is survived by two sons, Benny Coulston (Phyllis) of Alamo, TN and Danny Coulston (Kathy) of Brownsville, TN; two daughters, Sarah N. Cobb (Doug) of Jackson, TN and Georgia Webb of Ripley, TN; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Coulston Ray; four brothers, Lawrence Dennis Coulston, Paul James Coulston, Earl Coulston and Donnie Coulston.  He leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosie Nell Connor Coulston; his parents, William Luther and Zora Mae Coulston; two sons, Brady Coulston, Jimmy Coulston; four brothers, Bobby Coulston, W.L. Coulston, R.L. Coulston and David Carl Coulston; two sisters, Velma Reimert and Sue Davisson and one grandchild, Amanda Coulston and one great-grandchild, Dagen Coulston. 

Pallbearers for the service will be Kenneth Webb, Kevin Webb, Steven Cobb, Josh Coulston, Jim Brady Coulston, John Connor Coulston, Brandon Maddox, and Josh Matlock. Honorary Pallbearers are Rodney Coulston, Phillip Cobb and James Cobb. 

The family has requested memorials be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
