Leburn Dorris "LD" Barnes, age 75, was born on March 19, 1950, in Covington, TN. He passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Nashville, TN. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, TN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
LD had a remarkable career characterized by his love for working with his hands and his great pride in building things. His dedication to his craft was evident in every project he undertook, reflecting a passion that extended beyond mere occupation—it was a significant part of who he was. LD proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Known affectionately as "LD," his greatest joy came from his family. He loved deeply and selflessly, ensuring that those he cared for were always taken care of. If you knew LD, you undoubtedly experienced the warmth of his love, which he shared so freely with everyone he encountered.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Diggs of Nashville, TN. His legacy continues through his sons, Lee Barnes, Jr. (Jennifer) of Burleson, TN, and Mark Barnes (Bobbi) of Covington, TN; his daughters, Megan Kay Glover (Robert) of Warner Robins, GA, Michelle Curlin (David) of Nashville, TN, Amy Shanley (Don) of Waverly, TN, and Emily Diggs of Dickson, TN. A devoted family man, LD also leaves behind two brothers, Charles Barnes (Anita) and Rubin Barnes; and two sisters, Judy Clifton (Willis) and Joan Sanders, as well as 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished his loving spirit. He is also survived by his loving companion Rowdy.
LD was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gladys Beasley Barnes, his brother, Lawrence Lester Barnes, sister, Birt Robertson and his first wife, Sharon Kay Barnes. His memory and the love he shared with his family will forever be honored.
Pallbearers for the service are John Barnes, Jamie Anthony, Will Johnson, Lucas Johnson, Aidan Paseur, Wesley Ervin and Matthew Weston.
LD Barnes leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know him. The family requests that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
