Larry L. Baggett, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Sugar Creek Senior Living Community, in Brownsville, TN. His Graveside Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Trinity Cemetery in the Nutbush Community, with Bro. Lonnie Robinson officiating. Burial will follow.
Larry was born on December 25, 1932, to Clarence and Lillie Belle Baynes Baggett in Haywood County. He grew up in the Tibbs Community where the love of his life, Patricia Smith Baggett was his neighbor. They married and remained together until his passing, seventy years later. Larry was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He was a farmer and was in land management, along with working until his retirement from A & R Pipeline after thirty years.
He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed boating, fishing, the Tennessee River, bird and duck hunting. But family brought him his most joy. He proudly held the nickname of “Apple”, given to him by his grandchildren and great grandchild. Larry was a Deacon at Antioch Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife: Patricia Smith Baggett; son: Tony Baggett (Lisa); sister-in-law: Dr. Deborah Smith; niece: Susan Baggett; grandchildren: Anthony Baggett (Lacey), Laura Leigh Baggett; and great grandchild: George Baggett.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Lillie Belle Baynes Baggett; and his brother: Clarence Baggett, Jr. and sister-in-law Delois.
Pallbearers for the service will be Gary Elder, Danny Watson, Anthony Baggett, Jerry Baynes, Jamie Baynes and Lee Baynes.
Honorary Pallbearers are Marilyn Taylor, Gabriella Woody, Valerie Lamkin, Deborah Watkins, and Christine Kinnon.
Larry will be deeply missed by all that had the honor to know him. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Sugar Creek Senior Living Community and PruiittHealth Hospice for the exceptional care shown to the family and Larry. The family requests memorials be made to the Antioch Baptist Church, c/o Sherri Yanakopulos, 341 Baynes Rd., Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
