Kenneth "Poppa" Staggs, age 82, a cherished family man and dedicated member of community, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in Alamo, TN. Born on June 7, 1943, in Brownsville, TN, Kenneth lived a life marked by love for his family. A graveside service will be held in his honor on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Whiteville, TN, beginning at 11:00 AM with burial to follow. The service will be officiated by Bro. Ken Culver.
For many years, Kenneth worked as a self-employed water well contractor, where he applied his skills with diligence and pride. His work ethic was only rivaled by his devotion to his loved ones. As a member of Harmony Baptist Church, Kenneth's generosity and kindness touched countless lives.
Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman who relished the opportunities to hunt and fish, creating lasting memories in nature that he shared with family and friends. He understood the joy that comes from being close to family, and he embraced the time spent with his loved ones wholeheartedly.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Bettye Staggs, their son Bruce Staggs and his wife Tammie, daughter Angelia Peterson and her husband Shannon, as well as his brother Bobby Price and sister-in-law Debbie, all of Hillville, TN. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry Price of Mississippi, several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his legacy forward. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Commodore Staggs and Nyrncie Mae Young, his brother Billy Staggs, and his sisters Teddy Kieweit, Martha Jean Kelly, and Joyce Young.
Kenneth "Poppa" Staggs will be missed, but his spirit and the warmth of his love will continue to enrich the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. The family requests that memorials be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons’ Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
