Judy Ann Thomas Cook, born on April 30, 1956, departed this life on August 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Judy’s life was a testament to faith, family, and kindness, and her gentle spirit touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the Liberty Baptist Church in Somerville, TN with Dr. Jim Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Liberty Baptist Church.
Judy grew up surrounded by warmth and care that would shape the loving woman she became. Throughout her life, Judy honored the values of her upbringing, finding particular joy in the simple pleasures shared with family—fishing trips with her father, tending flower beds with her mother, and yard selling adventures with her sister.
A devoted homemaker, Judy was the heart of the household, known for her unwavering support and selfless care, always placing the needs of others above her own. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Judy’s life was enriched by her deep faith. A dedicated member of Liberty Baptist Church, she found great joy in reading her Bible and preparing lessons to teach Sunday School. Her commitment to sharing her faith with others left a lasting mark within her church community.
Judy is survived by her daughters: Courtney Matthews (Jeremaih) of Somerville, TN, Anna Curtis of Knoxville, TN and Loretta Reaves (Rick) of Collierville, TN; sons: Johnathan Cook (Brandy) of Somerville, TN, John Cook (Tonya Watson) of Whiteville, TN, and Michael Corbin of Collierville, TN; and her sisters: Susan Ann Thomas, Ruth Morrow, and Rachel Wilkerson. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence “Jr” Thomas and Anna Frances Spurlin Thomas; her first husband, Edward Watson, her second husband, Richard Wayne Thompson and her third husband, John Thomas Cook; and her brother: William Lawrence Thomas.
Pallbearers for the service will be her grandchildren: John Cook, Jr., Jeremaih Matthews, Jr., Jesse Jonas, Ashley Matthews, Charles Feathers, Malaki Jones, Aadon Cook, Aleah Cook, Dylan Curtis and Andy Curtis.
Those who knew Judy will remember her as a gentle soul who led by example, instilling in all around her, the values of faith, compassion, and dedication to family. The family requests memorials be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 6140 Old Jackson Rd., Somerville, TN 38068. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
