Josie Marie Watson

Josie Marie Watson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, at her home in Brownsville, TN. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Bro. Grover Westover officiating.

Marie was a wonderful gardener, known to make anything grow. With her green thumb, she grew beautiful flowers and vegetables that she enjoyed canning. She put her canned goods to good use cooking Sunday dinners. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Marie spent time outdoors as often as she could and she loved watching the hummingbirds.

She is survived by her son: Jimmy Watson of Brownsville, TN; daughter: Betty Hayes (Mike) of Brownsville, TN; brothers: Jerry Kyzer and Tom Kyzer both of Williston, TN; and one grandchild: Monica Hayes. She is preceded in death by her parents: Freddie and Josephine Watson Kyzer; husband: Joseph “Sonny” Watson; daughter in law: Alberta Watson; brothers: William Kyzer, Eddie Kyzer and James Kyzer; sisters: Sue White, Emily Staggs, Darlene Rossen and Earline Tippett; and one grandchild: Cynthia Hayes.

Marie will be missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
