John Albert Pruitt known as "Boon" was born on April 15, 1949, to the late James Albert and Lonnie Joe Pruitt in Stanton, Tennessee.  He departed this life on Sunday, July 23, 2023, in Memphis, Tennessee.

John was a graduate of Carver High School in Brownsville, Tennessee.  He made Memphis, Tennessee his home where he became a member of the New Direction Christian Church.

John was the owner of a licensed lawn care service.  He had a passion for grilling and was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.  He is affectionately remembered as a man who dispersed love, warmth, and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers:  Earl Pruitt, Wilbert Pruitt, James Pruitt, Jr. and Apostle, Dr. Charlie Lee Pruitt; four sisters:  Mrs. Emma Martin, Evangelist Mary Neal Gray, Minister Winnie Lue Taylor, and Minister Effie Lee Bell.  He is survived by his three sisters, Ms. Lavern Pruitt, Pastor Dorothy Phillips, Dr. Nancy Pruitt of Brownsville, Tennessee, and sister-in-law, Evangelist Dr. Dorothy Pruitt of Lansing, Michigan, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 12 Noon at the St. James Church of God In Christ located at 1828 Qualls Rd, Stanton, TN 38069 with Pastor James T. Gray officiating.  The interment will be at the St. James Cemetery.  All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
