John William Posey

John William Posey, age 78, was born on October 17, 1947, in Annapolis, MD. He passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026. His life was defined by dedication, hard work, and a quiet devotion to those he loved and the communities he served.  The family honored his wishes for cremation and there are no services scheduled at this time.

John drove trucks for over forty-seven years, driving most recently for Bancroft and Sons. In his spare time, John enjoyed participating with ham radio operators and often worked on radios. He spent many hours watching Nascar races and Hot Rod shows. John was also a member of the volunteer fire and rescue squad, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

John is survived by his daughter, Jane Renteria (Jesus) of New Boston, TX; his stepbrother, Charles E. Little; his sister, Janet F. Telley; his grandchild, Michael Lee Hamilton; and a circle of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will hold his memory close. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Posey; his father, Bruce E. Posey; his mother, Mary Jane Jones Posey; his step-brother, John H. Little and his sister, Shelley Rae Little. Their memories remain forever intertwined with John’s, offering comfort and solace to those who mourn his loss.

John's life touched many, whether on the open road, among his fellow ham radio operators, or in moments of service to others.  He will be missed greatly by all that had the honor of knowing him. All arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
