Joel Stow Fields, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at his home in Milan, Tennessee. Born on February 11, 1936, Joel was a man whose life was marked by devotion—to his family, his country, and his passions.

Joel's remarkable talent as a pianist brought joy to many throughout his life. He was an exceptional musician who performed beautifully with the Jubilaire’s Quartet and at the Double Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church. His music was not only a gift but also a reflection of his deep love for community and expression.

Beyond his musical gifts, Joel served his country with honor in the United States Army, a testament to his strong character and sense of duty. He pursued two years of college education, enriching his mind and spirit alongside his lifelong commitment to family and faith.

Those who knew Joel remember his warm personality and the affectionate way he embraced life. He "collected kids"—a heartfelt phrase revealing his love for family and the extended circle of loved ones he cherished deeply. Golf was one of his favorite pastimes, giving him moments of peace and pleasure on the greens.

Joel’s enduring love was shared with Linda Sue Palmer Fields, his devoted wife of over 67 years. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family legacy that included three sons—Kent and his wife Amy, Kirk and his wife Cathie, Scot and his wife Felicia—and a daughter, Dana Fletcher, who shares her life with her husband, Farris Wayne. Joel was also a cherished brother to Henry Lowell Fields and his wife Marion, Carol Speight and her husband Don, and Kay Greene and her husband Ron.

His family grew wider still, with eleven grandchildren (Max, Sophie, Lydia, Bess, Emma, Dylan, Jay, Caleb, Chance, Morgan and Tristyn) and three great-grandchildren (Leah, Hayden and Mason) who carry forward his loving spirit and values. Joel’s best friend, Mr. Harold Powers, stood by his side through life’s many chapters, reflecting the deep, enduring bonds Joel valued above all else.

Joel’s parents, Lewis Hayden Fields and Lydia Stow Fields, preceded him in death, their legacy living on in their son’s many accomplishments and the love he gave so freely.

As we remember Joel Stow Fields, we honor a life filled with music, service, family, and friendship. His presence illuminated the lives of those around him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones. In the quiet moments, when the piano softly plays and the laughter of family echoes, we will feel Joel close, a gentle reminder of a life beautifully and lovingly lived.
