Jerry A. White, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the TN State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. Shay Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
Jerry leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and dedication to his family and community. His life was marked by a spirit of service both to his country and his community. After a dedicated career of 24 years in the United States Navy, Jerry retired and took on a new role as part owner and operator of Union Gin in Brownsville, TN. There he put his industrious nature and leadership into daily practice, contributing to the local economy and supporting those around him.
His commitment to service was not limited to his professional life. Jerry was an enthusiastic Boy Scout Director and Recruiter in Knoxville, TN, where he mentored young people and encouraged the values of responsibility, citizenship, and perseverance. His efforts in guiding future generations will leave a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege of learning from him.
Faith was a cornerstone in Jerry’s life. He was a devoted member of Allen Baptist Church, where he served with distinction as a Deacon. Throughout his ninety-two years, Jerry touched the lives of many with his quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and deep care for those around him. He was deeply devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife Ann Duvall White of Jackson, TN; two brothers, Robert E. White (Carolyn) of Jackson, TN and James H. White (Mary Elizabeth) of College Station, TX; daughter Kimberly C. Lax (Frankie) and three grandchildren, Kris White, Beth White and Anna Lax.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Virginia Overton White; his first wife Mary White and second wife Carolyn Howse White; son Steve White and daughter Karen White; sisters, Ruth White Cheatham and Margie Nell Porch.
Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin Steele, R.J. Young, Mike White, Frankie Lax, Greg Killen and Mike Steele.
Jerry will be remembered for a life marked by dedication, faith, and generosity. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him. The family requests memorials be made to Allen Baptist Church, 5533 Hwy. 79 N., Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
