Jerry Moore, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Brownsville, TN on April 29, 2025. Born on May 29, 1949, in Lexington, TN. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at the Brownsville Funeral Home with Bro. Jon Bell and Bro. Eddie Mallonee officiating. Burial will follow at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, TN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at the Brownsville Funeral Home.
For 17 years, Jerry served with distinction as a Captain at the City of Brownsville Fire Department. His commitment to his career was matched only by his exceptional skill as a drywall hanger, a trade he took great pride in. Jerry loved to work, and his work ethic was admired by all who knew him. Jerry was known for his dedication to his family and his passion for his work.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry was a family man at heart. He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and took immense joy in the time spent with them. Two of his favorite pastimes was deer hunting and taking road trips, especially to the Smokey Mountains.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Joann Moore; two sons, Andy Moore (Beth) and Randy Moore, both of Brownsville, TN; one daughter, Diana Tims of Brownsville, TN; one brother, James Moore of Ripley, TN; and one sister, Patsy Patterson (Robbie) of Brownsville, TN. He is also remembered fondly by his ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Delaware Moore, and his sister, Carolyn Barnett.
Pallbearers for the service will be Blake Moore, Brent Moore, Drake Moore, Hank Miller, Justin Miller, Don Miller, Samuel Davis and Tim White.
Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Ben Patterson, Howard Akins, Robbie Patterson, Brad Davis and Grant Stark.
Jerry’s legacy of love, hard work, and commitment to family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family requests memorials be made to West Jackson Baptist Church, 580 Oil Well Rd., Jackson, TN 38305, notating the mission project of Drilling Wells in Africa. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
