Jerry Lynn Harwell

Jerry Lynn Harwell, age 68, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in the Jackson- Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN, with burial to follow in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. Phil Lovelace and Bro. Shey Lovelace will officiate the service. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 3:00-4:00 P.M. in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home. Jerry was born on October 2, 1952, to Wiley and Bonnie Jean Harwell. He was a graduate of Haywood High School. He worked and retired after 30 years from the TN Department of Transportation as an Asphalt Inspector. He was a member of Allen Baptist Church. Jerry was an avid UT fan and loved deer hunting. He also was a loving husband, father and Pop Pop. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Jean Poindexter Harwell. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Harwell; one daughter, Ashley Harwell Richardson (Brad); his father, Wiley Elmer Harwell; two brothers, Wiley Joe Harwell and Mark Anthony Harwell (Sylvia), and one grandson, Joseph Waylon Richardson, all of Brownsville, TN. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers for the service are Ricky Hooper, Dan Harwell, Joseph Harwell, Andy Brown, Dwayne Curtis, Charles Cowan, and Barrett Bryant. Honorary Pallbearers are Cleve Hicks, Tony Davis, Jr. West, James Crouch, Allen Outlaw, Darrell White, Johnny Taylor, Lynn Webb, Freddie Dedmon, Mike Dedmon, Tony Sills, and Shawn Parks. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101 or LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, 50 Dunlap Street, Memphis, TN 38103. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
