Mrs. Janie East Abel, age 82 passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Humboldt Medical Center. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be conducted Tuesday, July 18, 2017, 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. in the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home. Mrs. Janie was preceded in death by her parents: Cleve and Effie Rodgers East, Sr., a son: Todd Hicks, a brother: William “Bill” East, and a sister: Lynda Powell. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Raymond Abel, Humboldt, TN, a son: Nickie Hicks, Ashville, NC, two daughters: Charlotte White, Alamo, TN, Melanie Jacocks (Jesse) Brownsville, TN, three brothers: John East (Judy) Maury City, TN, Ernest East (Barbara) Friendship, TN, Jimmy East (Lynn) Jackson, TN, three sisters: Elnora Lott, Bells, TN, Virginia Scales, Opelika, AL, Leona Crossman (Charles), St. Augustine, FL, six grandchildren: Jonathan Hicks (Sarah), Kevin Hicks, Cameron White (Emily), Kathlin White, Allie and Justin Jacocks and a great-grandchild: Max Hicks.
