Jamie Sweat, age 68, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, at the Crockett County Nursing Home in Alamo, TN. He was born on November 18, 1957, in Brownsville, TN. A memorial gathering for Jamie will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
Jamie was a hardworking man who spent part of his working life at The Pictsweet Company in Bells, TN, and in his off time he also worked on a lawn care crew. He enjoyed simple pleasures and the things that brought him comfort and happiness. He liked watching westerns and wrestling on television, and he had a real passion for bike riding. Jamie also loved 70’s music and was a self-taught guitar player, something that reflected his spirit and his personal love of music.
More than anything else, Jamie loved his family. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart and brought great joy to his life. He will be remembered for the love he gave to those closest to him and for the happiness he found in being with his family.
Jamie is survived by his children, Dana Sweat, Felisha Sipes, and Shane Sipes. He also leaves behind his brothers, Robert Sweat and his wife Jane, David Sweat, and Dan Sweat and his wife Beth; and his sisters, Becky Forsythe, Kathy White and her husband Darrell, and Peggy Jones. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Sef Dorta, Kimber Naugle, Kynslee Naugle, Harleigh Naugle, Lakeland Naugle, Mason Naugle, Ryne Naugle, Zander Miles, Zekiel Sweat, Zayden Sweat, Chloe Sipes, Emily Sipes, Evan Sipes, and Elijah Sweat; and by his great-grandchildren, Atreus Dorta and Mateo Miles. Each of them was part of the family circle he treasured so deeply, and his memory will continue to live on in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Sweat; his father, John Carol “JC” Sweat; his mother, Dannie Marie Whittemore Sweat; and his brother, Terry Sweat.
Jamie will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. The family requests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
