James Ward Simpson

James was born in Ripley, TN, on October 6, 1938, to Jim and Odean Scoggins Simpson.  He was a Guard at MTD Cub Cadet and assisted with maintenance with the property. He was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church and loved his church family.  He always made sure his family went to church. He never met a stranger. He loved being outdoors and cutting the grass.  He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh.  Family was important to him, and he loved and cherished the time they could spend together.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  

He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Hood (Ricky) of Brownsville, TN, and Vickie Duprel (Mike) of Gadsden, TN; two sons, Jeffrey Simpson (Stephen) of Rector, AR and Keith Simpson (Lisa) of Bells, TN; two sisters, Charlotte Nation of Ripley, TN and Belinda Simpson of Ripley, TN; one brother, Kenneth Simpson (Marty) of Munford, TN.  He leaves a wonderful legacy of love for his eight grandchildren, Richard Hood (Amber), Chelsey Gaters (Justin), Elizabeth French, Logan Garner (Becca), Catie Gilliam (Josh), Blair Gillespie (Bo), Cory Simpson (Autumn), Cody Simpson, and his 14 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Qualls Simpson; his parents, James “Jim” Samuel Simpson and Odean Scoggins Simpson; three sisters, Shirley Hill, Joyce Kirby, and Rhonda Simpson; one brother, Charles Simpson. 

Pallbearers for the service are Richard Hood, Logan Garner, Cory Simpson, Cody Simpson, Justin Gaters, and Bo Gillespie. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be to the Antioch Baptist Church, c/o Sherri Yanakopulos, 341 Baynes Rd, Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
