James Roy Sanders, Jr.

Friendship

James Roy Sanders, Jr., age 74, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. All services are under the direction of the Bells Funeral Home.

Mr. Sanders was born in Greenwood, S.C. on February 13, 1951, to the late James Roy Sanders, Sr. and the surviving Cleo Elizabeth Canfield Farmer of Greenwood, S.C. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Army and attended the Crockett County Community Church of Alamo, TN. Mr. Sanders was a contractor by trade, doing everything from painting to roofing and he loved wood work. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. Everybody that met him loved him. His amazing spirit and love of life was contagious. He was a man of many talents, and those talents also included canning and making home make jelly. He loved playing shuffle board and will be greatly missed by his shuffle board buddies. His time spent at the Alamo Senior Citizens Center was very special and the memories will always be cherished.

His is survived by his wife of over 17 years: Debra East Sanders of Friendship, TN; his mother: Cleo Elizabeth Canfield Farmer of Greenwood, S.C.; two sons: Jeff Owens and Walter Allen Sanders both of Greenwood, S.C.; one stepson: Jason Reynolds of Friendship, TN; one daughter: Kathy Fay Sanders of Greenwood, S.C.; one sister: Toni Lynne Steadman; one niece: Nicole McClendon; He leaves a legacy of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Sanders family are honoring his wishes for cremation and further information will be announced as it becomes available by the Bells Funeral Home.
