James Thomas "Fireball" Roberts

James Thomas "Fireball" Roberts, age 83, of Gates, TN, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his residence. Jimmy was born on October 11, 1941 in Stanton, TN.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Jessie Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Stanton Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM., at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. 

Jimmy drove a truck for 50 years and retired in 2020. Truck driving was his passion, his 2005 Peterbilt 379X was "the love of his life". Jimmy also loved to race cars.  His favorite car was his 1971 Nova.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Thomas Roberts and Lelia Elizabeth Dancy Roberts.

Pallbearers for the service will be Joe Agee, Blake Agee, Bryan Roberts, Ronnie Corbin, Scottie Corbin, and David Koonce. The family has requested memorials be made to Stanton Cemetery, c/o Dana Woods, P.O. Box 207, Stanton, TN 38069. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
