James Edward Oswald

James Edward Oswald, age 81, of Brownsville, TN, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024, at his home with his loving wife of 58 years and his daughter at his bedside. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN with Bro. Kevin Mercer officiating.  Burial will follow at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens.  A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.

During his lifetime, James served in the military, was a master carpenter, cotton and peach/apple farmer, and a valuable employee of the Southeastern Boll Weevil Eradication Program.  His hobbies included restoring old John Deere Tractors.   James loved his family.  He will always be remembered for his honesty, integrity, and generosity to all who knew him.

James is survived by his wife, Jane Taylor Oswald; one daughter, Andrea Robinson, and one granddaughter, Maggie Taylor Robinson; three brothers, J.W. Oswald, Wayne Oswald, and Jerry Oswald; two sisters, Elaine McCool and Betty Ann Ferguson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Boss and Mabel Benard Oswald and one sister, Mary Lou Puckett.

Pallbearers will be Warren Hayes, Jay Massey, Jeff Robinson, Danny Leath, Mark Roberts and Will Kemp.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Daryl Thomas, Gaylon Herron, Kase Hayes, Jerry Moore, JC Taylor, Lee Austin and Edward Taylor.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1640, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to Le Bonheur Children’s Research Hospital, 50 N. Dunlap St., Memphis, TN 38103.
