James Marshall Evans

James Marshall Evans, age 75, passed away on November 6, 2026, at the Haywood Post Acute Nursing Home in Brownsville, TN. He was born on August 11, 1951. The family has honored his wishes for cremation and there are no services scheduled at this time but will be announced as they become available by the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.

Marshall will be remembered as a simple man who enjoyed life in his own familiar ways. His favorite things included watching old television shows and chewing his tobacco. He also enjoyed eating a good meal. Those everyday comforts were part of what made him who he was, and they will be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Evans; his father and mother, Perry and Carlise Benard Evans; his brother, Gilbert Evans; and his sister, Gladys Clinton.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Barnes of Hickory Valley, TN; his step-sons, Johnny Townsend, Jr. and Roger Townsend; his brothers, Jerry Evans and Thomas Evans; and his sisters, Ruby Chauvin and Gloria Earnest; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves behind family members who will carry his memory forward and remember the quiet routines and simple joys that meant so much to him.
