J. L. "Buddy" Cryer, Sr.

November 18, 1935 — June 4, 2023

J.L. "Buddy" Cryer, Sr., age 87, passed from this life on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 9:55 AM, at his home in Weatherford, Texas. There will be a Memorial Visitation for family and friends on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home Chapel in Brownsville, TN.  
 
Buddy was born November 18, 1935, in Stanton, Tennessee to John Emit Cryer and Edith Marie (Pruitt) Cryer. Throughout his life Buddy was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, bird watching, and worked in the farming industry. Animals were drawn to him, and Buddy was known as a dog whisperer. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and his fur babies (Lucy, Azula & Dixie). Buddy’s memory will be cherished, and his legacy will live on by all who knew him.

Buddy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Marie (Meeks) Cryer; son, J.L. Cryer, Jr.; parents, John and Edith Cryer; and sister, Carolyn Cryer Redding.

Buddy is survived by his children, Tracey M. Cryer and wife, Angela (Weatherford, TX), Tammy Campbell (Alamo, TN), Linda Sullivan (Humboldt, TN), and Victoria Emison (Alamo, TN); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his sister, Nellie Richardson of Brownsville, TN.
