Mrs. Gwendoln Mae Chandler, age 84, went to be with our Lord on May 18, 2026, at King’s Daughters and Sons in Bartlett, TN. She was born in Brownsville, TN on November 21, 1941, to the late Bennie Elmer Moore and the late Dellie Kendrick Moore. She was raised in Memphis, TN, and lived in Atoka, TN. She was the bookkeeper for her husband’s mobile tire business and later she worked for Sears & Roebuck Company before taking on the most important job of all, becoming a mother.
Mrs. Gwen was devoted to God, her family and her church family. Her family was the center of her world! She lived a life rich in love, faith and dedication, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
As a faithful member of Rivercrest Baptist Church, Mrs. Gwen was well-known for her exceptional talent in planning and hosting church parties, including fame nights. She and Mr. Jimmy enjoyed having a good time and watching others have a good time.
Mrs. Gwen was a homemaker who was a fantastic cook- continually exploring new recipes; a master gardener-cultivating beautiful flower beds; a seamstress-cowing everything from Halloween costumes to their Sunday’s best; creative decorator-showcasing her artistic abilities which included making her own bows for gifts. She sang in the church choir and was fashionably dressed, matching everything down to the smallest accessory.
Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Swen spent 50 years creating a life together. They loved camping and the Great Smoky Mountains.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Bennie and Dellie Moore; and her beloved husband: Mrs. Jimmy Sullivan Chandler.
Mrs. Gwen leaves behind her son: Mr. Don Chandler and his wife, Jackie of Farmington, AR and several family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Brownsville Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Mitch Mathis officiating, Mr. Robert Hamilton assisting and Mrs. Mimi Hamilton providing special music. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Brownsville Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour at 1:00 P.M.
