Gary Wayne Blair

CPL. Gary Wayne Blair, better known in the Corp as Bull Dog, a cherished soul and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on June 1, 1947, in Bells, TN,  Gary's journey through life was marked by his unwavering love for his family and the countless memories he created with them.

Gary graduated from Bells High School Class of 1965, where he began fostering the values that would define him throughout his life. His career as an Over the Road Truck Driver took him across the country, but no distance could diminish his deep-rooted affection for his wife, Judy Carol Hoppers Blair. Theirs was a bond filled with laughter and joy, exemplifying a partnership built on kindness, respect, and a shared love for life.

A Vietnam Veteran, Gary served his country with honor and humility, values that echoed throughout his life.   His favorite quote was "Once a Marine, Always a Marine".  He loved this good ole USA and he showed it by wearing his Marine Corp caps every day.  He was a God-fearing man, deeply grounded in his faith, and member of the Zion Baptist Church of Brownsville, TN, which guided him through both his triumphs and trials. Gary's personality was a warm embrace; he was known for his great sense of humor and his kind, loving spirit that touched the lives of many.

In his leisure time, Gary found solace and joy in the melodies of country and gospel music, bringing to life the stories that resonated with him. A devoted baseball fan, he cheered passionately for his heroes, Pete Rose and Mickey Mantle, as he enjoyed the thrill and camaraderie of the game.

Gary's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy; his grandson, Jacob Watson (Deme); and his great-grandchildren, Jersey and Rory Watson. They will forever cherish the memories they created together, holding his spirit close to their hearts as they navigate life without his physical presence.  He also leaves behind his sister in law, Barbara Dotson Clenney (Travis), brother in law, Rev. Jimmy Chapman, several nieces, nephews, numerous friends and his loving classmates that he adored.

He joins his beloved departed family members: L.W. Blair, his father; Marie Elizabeth Miller Blair, his mother; his daughter, Cynthia Blair Watson; his brother, Ronnie Lee Blair; and his sisters, Carolyn White Wallace and Geraldine Blair Ellington. Together, they await him in peace, while Gary's legacy of love and laughter continues to echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

As we remember Gary Wayne Blair, we celebrate a life filled with love, kindness, and a remarkable spirit that will be sorely missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind a void that can only be filled with cherished memories and a reminder of the profound impact he had on the lives of those he loved. Rest in peace, dear Gary, knowing that your love will echo in our hearts forever.
