It is with deep love and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Frederick Raymond Moore, Jr., of Mason, TN, known by many as "Freddy" passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family, with his favorite game of golf playing on the TV—just the way he would have wanted.
Born on December 12, 1950, Fred graduated from Haywood High School, Class of 1970, where he was a proud Tomcat. He greatly enjoyed attending his class reunions and catching up with friends. Fred lived a life dedicated to service, family, and integrity. A proud patriot, Fred served his country with honor and distinction in multiple capacities: as a Special Agent in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Branch, Special Agent in Charge with the Department of Energy, Special Agent with the Tennessee Department of Safety (THP CID), and a Criminal & Death Investigator with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office. His commitment to justice and public service was unwavering.
Fred was a devoted husband to his cherished wife, Betty Moore of Mason, TN, and a loving father to his daughter, Bridget Evans (Bradley) of Brownsville. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Katelyn Evans and Breyden Evans, who affectionately called him "PawPaw." His legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty lives on in them.
Fred was also lovingly known to his two sisters, Susie Powell of Medina, TN, and Brenda Yearwood of Gadsden, TN, who always insisted he was the favorite—and not without reason! He had a knack for getting them into trouble growing up, keeping life lively with plenty of good-natured mischief. Their sisterly antics brought endless laughter to Fred’s life, and their bond was a testament to the joy and mischief they shared through the years. Fred is preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Margaret Moore, his mother, Francis Moore, and his father, Frederick Raymond Moore.
He was a steadfast supporter of the Fraternal Order of Police and never missed a Friday to wear red in honor of Remember Everyone Deployed. With a heart as big as his smile, Fred gave back to his community through programs like Shop with a Cop, and also, by volunteering his time at the FedEx St. Jude Championship PGA Tour, a cause close to his heart.
In his own words, during his “copious amount of free time,” Fred could be found on the golf course—swinging away with his friends in Somerville or soaking up the sun and chasing birdies in Orange Beach with his beach golf buddies.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, laughter, and unconditional love. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church, located at 1733 Upper Zion Rd, Brownsville, TN 38012. A meal for family will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, honoring Fred’s passion for giving back.
