Ewell Thomas "Turk" Warren

Ewell Thomas “Turk” Warren, age 99, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at his residence in Brownsville, TN. Graveside Services for Mr. Warren will be conducted on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11:30 AM at Providence Cemetery with Bro. John Banks officiating.  Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Union Grove United Methodist Church in Brownsville, TN.

Turk was the owner of a country store in Haywood County.  He was a long-time member of Union Grove United Methodist Church. Through the years, he enjoyed playing golf.  He continued to mow his lawn well into his 90’s. He loved his country and was a World War II Veteran, where he was recognized as a rifle sharpshooter and carbine sharpshooter.  He served in Northern France and Central Europe. He received a Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and 3 Bronze Stars.  

He is survived by his stepson, Tim Wright (Pam) of Bradford, TN; three step grandchildren, Adam Wright, Nathan Wright, and Kelly Wright; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Gloria Duffey, (Walter), Susan Leath (Danny), Anita Warren, and Paul Warren; his friend, Robert Mitchell; his caregivers, Sandrie McNeal, Suzette Hawkins, Margie Jarrett and Brenda Adams.
