Eugene Bell, Sr.

Eugene Bell, Sr., age 73, passed away at his residence in Brownsville, TN on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Funeral Services for Mr. Bell will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 12 noon at the St. James Church of God in Christ in Stanton, TN, with Pastor James Gray officiating. Burial will follow at the St. James Church of God in Christ Cemetery in Stanton. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.

Eugene Bell, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, was born on September 28, 1950, to Y. Z. Turner, Sr. and Earnestine Watkins Turner. He worked as a self-employed electrician. He attended the St. James Church of God in Christ where he was the Assistant Pastor.  He retired from Teknor Apex after 15 years of faithful service. He loved vacationing in Gatlinburg, going to Chickasaw State Park, as well as hunting in his spare time. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Christine Bell of Brownsville, TN; five sons, Eugene Bell, Jr. of Jackson, TN, Kevin Bell of Brownsville, TN, Dexter Bell of Jackson, TN, Tyrone Bell, Sr. (Laveeta) of Brownsville, TN, and Marcus Bell (Errin) of Jackson, TN; four daughters, Shonda Bynum (Frederic) of Jackson, TN, Tracy Hill (Bryan) of Brownsville, TN, Tiffany Bell of Brownsville, TN, and Sonia Fuller (Frederick A.) of Brownsville, TN; five brothers, James Edward Turner, Curtis Turner, Reginald Turner, Anthony Turner, Y. Z. Turner, Jr.; two sisters, Mary Turner and Christine McFarland.  He leaves a legacy of love for his grandchildren, Sharel, KBreona, Eugene III, Demarcus, Jatarius, Dre, Tyrone, Jr., Marquese, Darius, Elyse, Marcus, Jr., Asia, Morgan, Kyrie, Jocelyn, and Jasmine; his great-grandchildren, Abbey, Jaxon, Quari, Ava, Kirsten, Mateo, Paris, Karmen, D’Legacii, Jabari, and Jacari, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, beloved family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Y. Z. Turner, Sr. and Earnestine Watkins Turner; two brothers, John Wayne Turner and Robert E.L. Turner, and one sister, Estella Tisdale.  

Pallbearers for the service will be Dexter Bell, Tyrone Bell, Sr., Marcus Bell, Demarcus Tyus, Frederick Fuller, and Travis Pugh. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Edward Turner, Curtis Turner, Reginald Turner and Y. Z. Turner Jr. 

The family has requested memorials be made to St. James Church of God in Christ, 1828 Qualls Rd., Stanton, TN 38069. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
