Dot Tackett

Dot Tackett, age 71, departed this life on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM, at the Oakfield Baptist Church in Oakfield, TN, with Bro. Mickey Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis, TN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the Oakfield Baptist Church.

Dot was born on March 19, 1955, to Vernon and Jesse Elrod Martin in Brownsville, TN. Dot had a love for yard sales, whether it be going to the them or having them at her home, she loved the wheel and deal of a good sale. Some of her favorite past times was spending time with family, riding country roads to look for deer, fishing and above all else, helping others. She was an adventurous soul, skydiving proved that. She enjoyed going to the Casino and loved to go on cruises when the entertainment was gospel singers.

If you knew her, you knew she was a lively soul, and would do anything for anyone, ALWAYS seeing the best in people and helping them at their worst. She would want her family and friends to laugh and talk about the good times, and not drown themselves in sorrow.

She is survived by her daughter: Tammy Bell (Tracy) of Dothan, AL; boyfriend: Richard Pinkley; sister: Lou Qualls; brothers: Thomas “Bubba” Martin (Beverly), Lynn Martin (Marie), Bobby Martin (Sandy); and grandson: Ryan Bell (Madi Ledlow).

Dot was preceded in death by her parents: Vernon and Jesse Elrod Martin; husband: Chris Allen Tackett; sister: Margaret Ann Martin; brothers: Jr. Martin, Shorty Martin, and Kenneth “Sponge” Martin.

Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Tracy Bell, Ryan Bell, Billy Fuller, Doug Pinkley, Robbie Cates and Jason Goodman.

Following the service, food will be provided in the fellowship hall. Dot will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. The family requests memorials be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
