Doris Anne Johnson

Doris Anne Johnson, age 87, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in Selmer, TN. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Deck officiating. Burial will follow at the Providence Cemetery in Madison County. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.

Doris was born on February 26, 1939, to Hugh William Cox and Lula Mae Mosier Dunn in Bells, TN. She loved every moment spent with her family. Attending First Assembly of God Church and spending time with her friends brought great joy to her. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, her dogs and yardwork, and taking care of people, she was Memaw to everyone. One of her very favorite things was going dancing with her beloved husband, Charles.

Doris is survived by her daughter: Melanie Johnson Dawson and her husband Allen, and leaves a legacy of five grandchildren: Zachary Hart (Amy), Amanda Hart Stephenson (Steve), Elizabeth Hart Rainey (Matt), Kelsey Croom (Chandler) and Candace Jones, as well as nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Hugh William Cox and Lula Mae Mosier Dunn; husband: Charles Wayne Johnson; daughter: Patricia Diane Johnson Hart; and granddaughter: Ashley Ann Grimes.

Pallbearers for the service will be Shane Grimes, Allen Dawson, Chandler Croom, Drew Massengill, Zach Hart and Scott Wells.

Doris will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
