Davie Morrow McClanahan, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Davie was born on August 18, 1937, in Shelby County. A graveside service to honor his life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Bro. Bob Connerley officiating. Burial will immediately follow.
For many years, Davie served as the owner and operator of a rock quarry until his retirement, a testament to his hard work and dedication. He was a simple man by nature, known for his industrious spirit and his love for fishing during his free time. His greatest attribute was that he loved to help people, he would go out of his way to help others. He also proudly served in the National Guard. Davie's commitment to his work and family was unwavering.
Davie is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rodger Reece McClanahan. He leaves behind two daughters, Jenny Miller (Jim) of Sugar Tree, TN, and Shelley Himes (Gene) of Linden, TN; and one brother, Ed McClanahan (Alice) of Somerville, TN. He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Davie was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm Davie and Virginia Bell Morrow McClanahan, and his brother, Charles McClanahan.
Davie Morrow McClanahan will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family requests that memorials be made to the Brownsville Baptist Church, 5 N. Wilson Ave., Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
