Daniel Brown Walker, age 89, passed away on May 13, 2026, at his home in Ripley, TN. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 5:00 PM, at the Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Donna Parramore officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, form 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM at the Trinity Community Church all in Nutbush, TN.
Known as Dan by his many friends, he was born and raised in Ripley, TN. Dan attended Ripley High School and the University of Tennessee, where he earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration. After graduating college, Dan returned to Ripley to begin a career in farming. Soon after moving back to Ripley, Dan met and married his wife of 64 years, Carol Lea Walker. Together they raised three children, Leanne, Daniel and Elizabeth. Dan was later joined in his farming operation by his brother, Lewis, where their business included raising beef cattle, corn, soybeans, cotton, wheat, milo and a commercial peach orchard. The Walker Brothers farmed together for 36 years before their retirement. Dan and Carol were lifelong members of the First United Methodist Church of Ripley and Dan was a Shriner and a Mason.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Jackson Walker and Eloise Brown Walker, his beloved grandson, Matthew Ryan Walker and his brother, Lewis Jackson Walker, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Carol Lea Walker, and three children: Leanne Walker McCullough (Jim), Daniel Brown Walker, Jr. (Tracey) and Elizabeth Walker Weakley (Robert). His proudest legacy is his grandchildren: Robert Walker McCullough (Abby), William Waller McCullough, and Avery Elisabeth Holdeman. Dan is also survived by his brother, Charles F. Walker (Carol).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Daniel B. Walker Scholarship Fund at the First United Methodist Church in Ripley Tennessee, 145 S. Main Street, Ripley, Tennessee, 38063. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home, Brownsville, TN.
