Listen to Obituary

Carol Byrum Claiborne (Nona), age 80, was released into the loving arms of her heavenly father surrounded by family at the Haywood County Community Hospital in Brownsville, TN on Sunday, June 14, 2026.  Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Lance Sherer officiating.

Our mother was the heart of our family.  She loved deeply and unconditionally.  Her greatest joy in life was her family.  Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world.  Simply being present in the lives of those she loved dearly was her greatest blessing and joy.  As we carry her in our hearts, we honor her memory by loving one another as she first loved us unconditionally.  Forever cherished and always loved-Our Momma-Our Nona.

Carol is survived by four children: Mollie Mann Floyd (George), Rob Mann (Laurie), Tom Mann (Joy) and Angela Mann (Johnny); ten grandchildren: Kamrie Emerson (Justin), Freeman Mann (Katie), Daniel Antwine, Elyse Hardee (Cory), Misti Floyd, Cara Konecci, George Floyd, Jr., Hunter Mann, Jarrett McBride and Jake McBride; seven great-grandchildren: Jaci Mann, Annie Mann, Kasen Webb, Kade Webb, Kaylee Emerson, Thomas Hardee and John Hardee; two nephews: Neil Byrum and Sam Byrum; one niece: Dawn Spitzer; one aunt: Mary Vivian Cherry; and two lifelong friends: Rodger McClanahan and Linda Carlton.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Danny Claiborne; her parents: Barney and Hazel Byrum; and her brothers: J.B. Byrum, James Byrum and Billy Spitzer.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, 50 N. Dunlap Street, Memphis, TN 38103.  All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
