Brenda Mae Jones Langley Taylor, age 85, of Brownsville, TN passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Ivy officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Hill Cemetery in Lexington, TN. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home. She was born March 19, 1940, to her parents, Attice Carl & Mary Louise Deere Jones, in the rural community of Rock Hill, in Henderson County, TN. She was very proud to be the granddaughter of Evangelist, Rev. Dorsey Logan & Ollie Mae Veteto Jones, and Joseph Allen & Annie Louise Hesse Deere.
Brenda was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved God and lived every day to please the Lord. This showed in her kind heart and gentle spirit she shared with everyone she knew. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading to her grandchildren. Her talent for planning details was apparent in how she cared for others. Brenda’s caregiving extended into her career of service as an x-ray technician for 40 years, serving as the Department Supervisor at Haywood Park Community Hospital. Brenda will be greatly missed by her family, friends, church community and all who knew her.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 36 years, James Thomas Taylor, and her sons, Joe Michael Langley (Shelly), of Erwin, TN and James William Taylor (Cora), of Brownsville, TN; her daughter, Jeana Taylor, of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Mikaela Langley Allison (Shawn), Amber Taylor Phillips, Breanna Taylor-Wetzel (Daniel), Kelli Spiegelman, and Kayla Spiegelman; two great grandchildren; her sisters, Virginia Ann Adkins (Jim), of Pensacola, FL, Alberta J. Sullivan (Randy), of Bartlett, TN and her sister-n-law, Josephine Fisher Jones, of Parsons, TN as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Attice and Mary Louise Jones; son, Timothy Alan Langley; brother, John Deere Jones, and her sisters, Peggy Louise Scates (Jimmy) and Rose Mary Shaw (Sydney).
Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Langley, Steve Langley, Jason Householder, Josh Swims, Noah Swims and James Taylor.
The family requests that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
