Birdie Marbury Blackwell

Birdie Marbury Blackwell, age 90, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Maplewood Healthcare in Jackson, TN.  Graveside Services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in with Bro. Jeff Davis officiating.  Burial to follow in the Brownsville Memorial Gardens.


Mrs. Birdie was born in Haywood County, TN to the late Henry Clay Marbury and Birdie Iona Williamson Marbury.  She was a member of the Poplar Corner Baptist Church.  She loved and adored her grandchildren, dogs and cats and enjoyed quilting and crocheting.


She was also preceded in death by three sisters:  Virginia Walker, Opal C. Stewart, Betty Roaten; two brothers:  Earl Marbury and Wiley Thomas Marbury.


She is survived by two sons:  Barry Blackwell of Jackson, TN, Billy Blackwell of Brownsville, TN; She leaves a legacy of four grandchildren:  Bradley and Brandon Blackwell, Christy Davis, Leah Moore; and seven great-grandchildren:  Ashley and Andrew Blackwell, Colyer and Mabry Blackwell, Macon Davis, Claire and Caroline Moore.


In lieu of flowers, the Blackwell family requested that memorials be made to uu.edu/advancement/giving or The Office of institutional Advancement Nursing Scholarship Fund, 1050 Union University Drive, Jackson, TN  38305
