Billie McDonald Jeffries

Billie McDonald Jeffries, 82, of Germantown, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 2:30 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN with Bro. Danny Sinquefield officiating.  Burial will follow at the Trinity Cemetery in the Nutbush Community. A time of visitation will be on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM at the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. 

She is survived her son, Clinton Wallace Jeffries of Memphis, TN; her nephew, Sean Miller of the Czech Republic; her close friends Mack and Glenda Bain, Barbara Bain, and her Godchild, Patricia Scarborough. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Jeffries and her parents, William Casey McDonald and Nellie Inez Travis McDonald.  

Billie graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL in 1963.  She later received her Masters of Education degree from Memphis State University, now the University of Memphis. She taught both in public and Christian schools for 18 years.  In 1973, she was listed in Outstanding Elementary Teachers in America.  She then taught several years at Crichton College, teaching teachers how to teach.  In 1991, she authored ABC’s for Teachers, A Devotional for Christian Educators. 

As a musician, she played piano, organ, or violin in church since her teenage years. She taught piano in the Faith Music Academy at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN. She also played in Faith’s orchestra. She believed that the talents God gives us are to be used in His service and for His glory.  

Pallbearers for the service will be Mack Bain, Brian Bain, Tracy Bain, Paul Bain, Tim Turner and Taylor Sullivan.
