Atonya Evette Cooper, age 45, a resident of Brownsville, TN, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Haywood Community Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Mercer Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Atonya was born on March 21, 1978, in Brownsville, TN to Glenn Douglas Sr. and Sadie Jelks-Cooper. She was dearly loved by her family. She enjoyed listening to music and watching movies.
Atonya is survived by her mother, Sadie Jelks Cooper. her brothers, Glenn Douglas Jr. of Memphis, TN, Cecil Douglas of Humboldt, TN, Frederick Douglas of Atlanta, GA, and Glenn Douglas, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; her sisters, Jennifer Cooper of Brownsville, TN, Dorothy Douglas of Memphis, TN, LaRhonda Smith of Atlanta, GA, and Alisa Buford of Atlanta, GA, and she also leaves a host of aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Douglas, Sr.
Pallbearers for the service will be Joshua Jelks, Carlos Jelks, LeKeevis Simmons, Max Jelks, and Stevie Smith, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Wesley Bradford, and Darren Douglas.
All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
