Alphonia Graves, a dedicated factory worker and beloved family man, passed away on June 1, 2025, at the age of 69 in Brownsville, TN. Born on October 18, 1955, in Haywood County, he exemplified a strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to providing for his family throughout his life.

Alphonia's career as a factory worker was marked by his diligence and dedication, qualities that inspired those around him. He was known for his steadfast reliability and the pride he took in his work, ensuring that his family was well taken care of.

Outside of his professional life, Alphonia had a range of hobbies that brought him joy. He found great pleasure in the peacefulness of fishing. His passion for working on cars was another outlet for his creativity, allowing him to combine his skills with his love for mechanics. Additionally, he enjoyed the simple pleasure of cutting grass.

Alphonia is survived by his two sons, Terrence Eugene Graves of Humboldt, TN, and Cordare Marques Oldham of Hampton, VA. He shared a close bond with his siblings, which included four brothers: Lorenza Graves, Jr., Levornia Graves, Lonnie D. Graves, and Otis D. Graves, along with four sisters: Maggie L. Graves Jones, Bertha Graves Able, Clora L. Graves Cunningham, and Cynthia L. Graves. The legacy of Alphonia will also be cherished by his five grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenza Graves Sr. and Emma Sue Neal Graves, and five brothers: Alfred Lee Graves, Earl T. Graves, Alvester Graves, Larry Graves, and Eldridge Graves, Sr.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date and will be announced as the date and time becomes available by the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
